A Bedford County resident and Lincoln County merchant, was born in Adair County, Kentucky, on March 10, 1809 and died in Bedford County, Tennessee on his birthday, March 10, 1902. He is the son of Alexander and Mary L. (Goggin) Gill of Bedford County. Mr Gill's mother, Mary L..(Goggin) Gill was a sister to Samuel L. Clements (Mark Twain's) grandmother, Pamela  (Goggin) Clemens.

The two painting of the Fly men are: The man in the larger painting is that of Joel Orval Fly (1883-1960).   This painting is an oil on canvas and painted by Frances Love in 1962.

The smaller painting to the left of Mr. Fly is his son, George Freeman Fly who was born in 1909.   This painting is by David Ra.
